ALLAMA RASHEED TURABI A CHRONOLOGY OF HIS LIFE AND ACHIEVEMENTS

1908 – Born on July 9, 1908, in Hyderabad (Deccan), in a highly educated family.

1924 – Passed Intermediate examination from Shia College, Lucknow.

1927 – First pilgrimage to Karbala and Najaf.

1927 -¬ Addressed three majalis at Bara Imambargah, Kharadar, Karachi.

1930 – Passed B. A. Examination from Osmania University, Hyderabad (Deccan).

1930 – Married in a noble, bureaucratic family of Hyderabad (Deccan).

1934 – Obtained M. A. (Philosophy) degree from Allahabad University, UP.

1937 – Second pilgrimage to Karbala and Najaf. While returning from this pilgrimage, stopped over in Karachi, and addressed ten majalis at Bara Imambargah, Kharadar. Topic: “Islam and Science”.

1938 to 1948 – Addressed Moharram Majalis at Mehfil – e – Shah – e – Khorasan, Bombay.

1938 – Joined Ittehadul Muslimeen in Hyderabad (Deccan) under the presidentship of Nawab Bahadur Yar Jung.

1942 – Organised a three – day Conference as “Yaadgaar – e – Hussain (A. S.)” at Hyderabad (Deccan) on the occasion of the 1300 years of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A. S.). The conference was addressed by Prominent Scholars and Ulemas from all parts of the Indian sub – continent.

1941 – Nominated as Member, Hyderabad State Legislative Assembly by the Nizam of Hyderabad.

1942 – Joined All India State Muslim League, Hyderabad (Deccan), as its Information Secretary.

1947 – Translated Hazrat Ali (A. S.)’s letter to Malik – e – Ashtar, his Governor in Basra. This letter lays down the rules for Good Governance and is a Great Historic Document reveals the Administrative Vision of Islam.
Allama sent this translation to the Quaid – e – Azam, who, while acknowledging its receipt, greatly appreciated it and had its copies distributed amongst the Civil Servants at a gathering at the Karachi Club, and advised them to take their guidance from this document in their day to day Government affairs.

1948 – Launched a literary socio – cultural weekly magazine, “ANIS”. Allama was the Editor – in – Chief of this magazine.

1948 – First visit to Pakistan.

1949 – Migrated to Pakistan along with his family.

1950 to 1953 – Addressed Moharram Majalis at Mehfil – e – Shah – e – Khorasan, Karachi.

1950 until death – Addressed Moharram Majalis at Khaliqdina Hall, Karachi. and Bara Imambargah, Kharadar, Karachi.

1951 – Addressed the first Majlis – e – Shaam – e – Ghareebaan broadcast by Radio Pakistan. The Majlis – e – Shaam – e – Ghareebaan broadcast by the Radio Pakistan, with a brief interruption in 1958 and 1959.

1952 – Visited Burma (now Myanmar) to address Seerat Conference organised in Rangoon (Now Yangon).

1954 – Visited East Africa and addressed Majalis and Conferences/ Seminars in Nairobi, Dar us Salaam, Kenya, Mombasa and Zanzibar.

1955 to 1960 – Visited Muscat (Oman) to address Majalis on “Darse Quran.”
1955 – On the request of the Nizam, addressed five majalis in Hyderabad (Deccan).

1956 – Visited Iran and Iraq to invite Scholars and Ulemas to participate in the “Jashne Murtazavi” being organised in Karachi.

1957 – Arranged an International Conference and exhibition of rare manuscripts and books in Karachi, in connection with the 1400th. Birth anniversary of Maula – e – Kainaat, Hazrat Ali ibne Abi Talib (A. S.). The Conference, titled “Yaadgar Jashne Murtazavi”, was inaugurated by the then President of Pakistan, Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Iskandar Mirza, and was addressed by Prominent Scholars and Ulemas from Pakistan, India, Iran and Iraq. The closing session was addressed by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardi. The Jashne Murtazavi was the brain – child of the Allama.

1958 – Represented Pakistan at an International Islamic Colloquium organised by the Government of Pakistan, in collaboration with the University of Punjab, and delivered a lecture on “Ijtehaad in Islam”.

1961 – Organised a two – day International seminar on the occasion of one thousandth death anniversary of Sheikh Sadooq.

1961 – First heart attack. Treated at PNS “Shifa’ naval Hospital, Karachi.

1961 to 1973 – Moharram Majalis at Patel Park (now Nishtar Park).

1965 – First visit to London for medical check – up and Majalis.

1968 to 1973 – Addressed the Majalis – e – Shaam – e – Ghareeban telecast by the Pakistan Television.

1970 – Inaugurated the Hussainia Sajjadia Imambargah in Karachi.

1971 – Second visit to London for Majalis and lecture at the School of oriental and African Studies, University of London.

1973 – Suffered massive heart attack. Died on December 18, 1973, at his residence and was buried on December 19, 1973, in a mausoleum built within the premises of Hussainia Sajjadia Imambargah.
